In its order, the Sindh Home Department also said that the release of the suspects could pose a threat to law and order.

It may be recalled that the Sindh High Court yesterday ordered the release of three accused in the kidnapping and murder of US journalist Daniel Pearl.

A two-member bench, headed by Sindh High Court Justice Muhammad Karim Khan Agha, passed an appeal after 18 years in the murder of US journalist Daniel Pearl, while abolishing the death sentence of central accused Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. He has been given seven years' imprisonment while acquitting the other three accused and has also released his release.

US journalist Daniel Pearl was assassinated after his abduction in Karachi in 2002, where a special anti-terrorism court sentenced Ahmed Omar Sheikh to death and life imprisonment to three suspects Fahad Nasim, Sheikh Adil and Salman Saqib, The case was adjourned for 10 years due to the absence of the accused lawyers. Police could not produce concrete evidence in the trial against the accused.

South American top US diplomat Ellis Wells has said that the decision to reduce the punishment for the murder of Daniel Pearl is an insult to terrorists.

He welcomed the appeal by a Pakistani prosecutor against the decision to reduce the sentence of British-born Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh.

In a statement on Twitter, Alice Wells said those responsible for the brutal murder and kidnapping of Daniel Pearl should be punished according to the requirements of justice.
