What is the government bill to amend the Army Act?
A copy of the Government Bill for amending the Army Act has come out, which according to this bill has been named as Pakistan Army Act Amendment Bill 2020.

According to a copy of the bill, a new chapter has been added to the Army Act, which has been named the appointment of Army Chief and Chairman Joint Chiefs.

The bill has fixed the Army Chief's deployment period to 3 years; upon completion of his term of Army Chief, he will be given 3 years extension.

The bill states that a new deployment or extension of the Army Chief will be made by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister, the Prime Minister's advice will determine the wider national interest and emergency situation.

According to the bill, the appointment, reappointment and extension of the army chief will not be challenged in court, the retirement age will not apply to the army chief.

The bill states that the Joint Chiefs will be appointed for three years from the Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy. The Chairman Joint Chiefs will also be appointed by the Prime Minister on the advice of the Prime Minister.

The bill further states that the same law would apply even if the Chairman Joint Chiefs were with the Pakistan Army.

The bill also said that the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee would also be given a three-year extension, while the application of the same law would continue in case of any dispute.
