Saudi Arabia's Finance Minister Mohammed Al Jazan, who heads the G-Twenty countries, said the move would mean that these countries would not have to worry about repaying loans for 12 months.

He also said that the G Twenty-two countries will also release $ 20 billion to help improve the health system for poor countries and the people affected by Corona.

"We support the suspension of debt payments to the poorest countries by one year," the finance ministers and central bankers of the world's richest 20 countries said in a statement after their virtual meeting.

According to him, every member of G-Twenty will be involved in the move. The World Monetary Fund and the World Bank have demanded governments to waive loan payments to the most needy countries for six months.

Finance Ministers of the Group of Advanced Economics agreed Tuesday, in which China and Russia also backed the move. World financial institutions have appealed for assistance from about 100 poor countries.
