A Boeing 737 aircraft suddenly burst into flames at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on Monday night, the plane was parked at a secluded spot near the Labor Gate of the airport, where the closed-door private airliner has about a dozen aircraft parked at Shaheen Airport.
Sources at the Civil Aviation Authority initially reported that the fire started in the bushes outside the fencing area, which spread and engulfed the plane. But after examining the incident this morning, sources say that the bushes are about a hundred meters away from the aircraft and there is no sign of fire.
Sources said that the affected aircraft and other planes have been parked at the site for about four years, after the incident raised several questions about the CAA and the airport security force.
The CAA has constituted a committee headed by Additional Director Taufiq Sheikh to investigate.
