The report that the so-called kimchi can cure baldness is misunderstood. The research mentioned in the report is to study whether the probiotics in Kimchi can improve hair loss. However, the reliability of the conclusion is relatively low, and it is too early to directly conclude that "Eating Kimchi for baldness

Recently, some media reported that "Korean latest research: Kimchi can treat baldness."
The news comes from the "Daily Mail". So far, a large number of Chinese media have reprinted this media report.news world ahmed
The report said, "Researchers at Dankook University in South Korea have found that kimchi drinks sold in South Korea not only help increase existing hair, but also treat baldness."
Is Kimchi really so good?
Let's go and see what happened in that study.
This is a small-scale study funded by the manufacturer
That research, published in the World J Mens Health, is an open access academic journal.
The title is a question sentence, which translates to: "Can Kimchi and Miso Prebiotics as Functional Foods Improve Androgen-Derived Hair Loss? A preliminary study.
Two of the researchers are from the R & D center of "Coenbio", which is the manufacturer of the products for this research. Research funding was also provided by the company.
Study is not about eating kimchi
Although "kimchi and miso" is mentioned in the title of the article, the research content is not about eating kimchi and miso, but "probiotics from kimchi and miso".
Kimchi and miso produce a large number of bacteria during fermentation, some of which may be beneficial to human health. However, it is difficult to control how many live probiotics are in kimchi, and miso is usually eaten after cooking, and there are fewer bacteria left behind.
The company's products are made by adding probiotics from fermented kimchi and miso to other excipients to make drinks, which are sold on the market as over-the-counter medicines.
Theoretically, the "effect ingredient" contained in such a product is relatively manageable, but it is completely different from "eating kimchi".
This study also did not study "treating baldness"
The study was not about baldness.
Among 23 male and female volunteers recruited, the hair density at the beginning of the study was 85.98 ± 20.54 hairs per square centimeter.
After taking the company's products for one month, the average density increased to 90.28 ± 16.13 roots / cm2; after four months, it further increased to 91.54 ± 16.29 roots / cm2.
But looking at the results, in four months, the hair density increased by about 5.5 hairs on the basis of 86 hairs per square centimeter. From a statistical point of view, there is a significant difference in this "improvement", so the authors conclude that "can".
But considering this sample size (46 people in total) and large data bias, this "improvement" conclusion is indeed very "preliminary", and there is a long way to go before it is recommended to the public as a health guide.
Even this "preliminary conclusion" is not at all to the extent that "treating baldness" is mentioned in media reports.
Kimchi is not a healthy food
Then again, kimchi, a traditional food, exists in many parts of the world.
It appeared as a means of preserving vegetables. Today, the value of preservation and logistics has disappeared as a means of preservation. However, the fermented vegetables produce a special flavor and taste, which has become a distinctive "flavored food". Especially in Korea, kimchi is still a popular food.nba finals
However, compared to fresh vegetables, the vitamin C and other nutrients in kimchi are lost, and a considerable amount of nitrite is formed. Overall-at least compared to fresh vegetables, the nutrition of kimchi is not desirable.nba finals
If this bite is good, you can eat it occasionally to satisfy your appetite. Take kimchi as a regular food, or even as a "tonic medicine" with some effect.nba finals
